Winston Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to support San Diego animal rescue groups and shelters.
After losing my beloved bulldog, Winston in 2019, I wanted to share my story of how I grew through grief and turned loss into a legacy by helping other dogs who are in need. I created and filmed a mini-documentary and premiered it to an audience of 45. In it, I shared the story of love and commitment as Winston aged and we ultimately had to make the difficult decision to relieve him of his pain. In the days and months that followed, the pain of losing him was so intense that I didn't think I would ever stop crying or walking around like I was a zombie. After 3 long, sleepless and tear-filled months, I visited with a dear friend and his senior bulldog. That visit woke something up inside of me and the Winston Project was born.
We know that rescue groups and shelters are spread very thin with all the work they do in the field rescuing and saving dogs from neglect and abuse. They don't have time nor the means to fundraise. That's where Winston Project comes in. Our goal is to raise funds to disperse to local rescue groups through grant requests with the money going directly to helping the dogs in need.
We love dogs and our mission is to make a difference in their lives... one dog at a time.
On June 7, 2022, we premiered the mini-documentary, The Winston Project, to an intimate audience of just 45 people. We raised $7K to benefit SoCal Bulldog Rescue and Project Save-A-Bullie.
In our first year, we raised $28,000 and were able to help dogs like Maya, Ramon and a kitten named Skippy among others through FACE Foundation, SNAP - Spay Neuter Action Project, and Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
In 2024, our second year, we raised nearly $35,000 and supported the spay & neuter of 34 cats and dogs, provided medical care for a
dog fighting cancer, helped Roadogs Dog Rescue and connected the community through events like Barktoberfest and Santa Paws' Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest.
Ways you can help:
With the help of SNAP - Spay Neuter Action Project, Winston Project helped to provide:
FACE Foundation provides a solution to economic euthanasia. Simply put, if a pet owner can't afford a medical procedure or treatment and their only option is choosing to euthanize due to financial reasons, FACE steps in and funds the treatment thanks to donations received by supporters like you.
While Rancho Coastal Humane Society is well-known for its personalized pet adoption process, youth education programs and Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS) program, they also are recognized for established programming designed to strengthen and promote the human-animal bond. This includes the Animal Safehouse Program for victims of domestic violence, military veterans and seniors, the Community Pet Food Bank, Pet-Assisted Therapy and Pet Loss Support programs, and the Veterinary Care Program for Seniors in need.
Winston Project is proud to support the work they do for the community.
Your support and contributions will enable us to make a real difference in the lives of the abused, abandoned and neglected dogs of San Diego. Every little bit counts! We appreciate your support & donations.
We (and the dogs) are forever grateful!
